Gap between the rich and the poor widens in Poland

Nearly 81% of Poles surveyed for the 2011 Social Diagnosis report are satisfied with life vs. 79% two years ago, the daily Rzeczpospolita reports.

Meanwhile, Poland has seen income inequalities grow for the first time in several years.

The richest 10% of the Polish society earn 4.19 times more than the poorest 10%, while two years ago the multiple was 3.96.
At the same time, the poorest Poles' income has fallen.

Real income per capita in the least affluent households has decreased on average from 638 zlotys two years ago to 620 zlotys presently.
Moreover, the divides between the rich and the poor have cemented, the report also showed.
