Komorowski Canvasses Votes in London

Sejm Speaker and acting President Bronislaw Komorowski arrived in London on Wednesday to convince the big Polish community living there to vote for him in the snap June 20 presidential election, triggered by the death of president Lech Kaczyński.

Komorowski is trying to repeat the success from three years ago, when expats here strongly supported his liberal Civic Platform PO party, helping it to win in the last parliamentary elections.

The number of Poles living in Britain is estimated at around 500,000 to one million, half of them living in the London area.

45 polling stations were being set up across Britain for the presidential election, with hundreds expected to vote at provincial ones and thousands expected at the eight London stations.

Komorowski meets with Polish students and young business people at the London School of Economics.
