Some Polish MP want to ban Sunday trading

A group of deputies from the main opposition conservative Law and Justice (PiS), the right wing opposition Solidary Poland as well as some MPs from the two ruling coalition parties Civic Platform (PO) and Polish People’s Party (PSL) have lodged with the Sejm lower house a draft amendment banning trade on Sundays.

"Sunday in the Polish tradition is considered a day free of work; a day for families," conservative deputies wrote.

The ban would not affect negatively revenues on VAT, CIT, PIT or the excise tax and will not increase unemployment as in view of the economic crisis employment in the trading sector has been curtailed, they said.
