Travellers not to be affected by strike at Warsaw airport

Passengers should not be affected by the strike launched by LOT Aircraft Maintenance Service (AMS) personnel Monday morning at the Warsaw’s Chopin Airport as the Polish Airlines [Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT] contracts more than one maintenance operator, LOT spokesman Leszek Chorzewski told PAP news agency.

Mechanics working for LOT AMS, one of maintenance operators contracted by Poland’s flagship airline, decided to go on a strike over pay and conditions. The industrial action will last “until further notice”, they say.

The mechanic refuse to enter the necessary data in the maintenance log which enable the aircraft to take off from the airport.

“We have prepared ourselves for such a situation, and we serviced some of the aircraft already,” Chorzewski said. No flights have cancelled and departures and arrivals from the airport are operating normally, he added.
