Ostrów Lednicki - Dziekanowice

An island on the Lednickie Lake, which in early medieval times was a heart of Poland. Here the Polish state was probably established, here the first prince of Poland, Mieszko I lived, and later it was the residence of his son, Bolesław Chrobry, who was the first king of Poland. Although it is not scientifically proved, Ostrów Lednicki island is one of the two possible places of the "baptism of Poland" in 966, when Mieszko I agreed to introduce christianity on Polish teritory. On the island the archeologists are still working and the open air museum is possible to visit. To reach it, you have to cross the Skansen museum and sail the small ship which offers you additional attractions: admiring the lake and its nature.
